polytheist extractions

Al-Baghdadi, Al-Ifadah 109-10

“And as for the idols, they were very common in the ancient world even with the Christians, most of whom, Copts and Sabaeans, were inclined towards their construction in the old tradition of their ancestors and set up idols in the places of their worship. They can even go so far as depicting their god surrounded by angels. All these are the remains of the traditions of their predecessors, although the predecessors were much wiser and elevated god beyond any logical or physical reach of comprehension, let alone depiction.” – Al-Baghdadi, Al-Ifadah 109-10
